  • Baltic Amber is a true treasure. This highly-prized fossil resin is over 40 million years old and can only be found in the marine basin of The Baltic Sea. Its exceptional beauty is formed through natural weathering from the time it is a fluid resin flowing from the trees through to its journey to the beach.

  • The ancient Greeks and Romans both believed in the magic powers of amber. Its electrostatic energy is believed to have the power to draw all manner of misfortune away from people. Even tiny pieces of amber have been discovered inserted beneath the skin covering the hands of Egyptian mummies, as the Egyptians believed that amber secured the mummy against destruction and decay. Wearing amber is said to be beneficial to sufferers of rheumatism and arthritis and reduced fatigue and feelings of general weariness. Amber stones were traditionally used for bringing good health and good luck.  This faith in the effectiveness and power of amber continues until today.

  • Natural Baltic amber contains 3-8% of succinic acid, recent scientific research has proved that succinic acid has a very positive influence on the human organism: strengthening the body, and improving immunity.

  • Types of Baltic Amber:
  1. Natural Baltic Amber: This type of Amber is naturally formed, as this is a nature product it is generally uneven in colour, and is almost always uneven in shape.
  2. Genuine Amber: This includes both Natural Baltic Amber as well as Pressed Amber, both of which are pure Amber without any additives.
  3. Pressed Amber: Is a combination of smaller pieces of Natural Amber that are melted together under high pressure, often giving a more even coloured piece.
  4. Ambroid: Is a synthetic form of Amber made by melting smaller pieces of Natural Amber together with other synthetic resins.
  5. Copal: Is also a type of resin, however is produced by various tropical tree secretions that are very different to the species of trees of Baltic Amber. Copal is a much younger, more recent resin and therefore behaves very differently to that of Amber, which is formed from resin from trees growing millions of years ago.
  6. Imitation Amber: Is made from plastics, coloured glass and treated modern trees resins.
